About SolarSaver
SolarSaver is a free tool that helps US homeowners get a fast, transparent estimate of what switching to solar could cost and save them. There's no signup and no email wall — just enter your state and electric bill.
How we calculate estimates
We convert your monthly electricity bill into annual energy use based on your state's average residential rate, then size a system to cover that usage using your state's average daily peak sun hours and a real-world performance ratio. We apply the national average installed cost of about $3.00 per watt and the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit. Lifetime savings assume a 3% annual utility-rate increase and normal panel degradation over a 25-year horizon.
Data sources
Electricity rates are based on U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) averages. Peak sun hours are based on NREL data. State incentive notes are summarized from public program information and DSIRE. These values are approximate and updated periodically.
Important
All figures are estimates for educational purposes and are not financial advice or a binding quote. Your actual costs and savings depend on your roof, shading, equipment, financing, and local utility rules. Always get quotes from licensed installers before making a decision.
